Patterns of tiles are stored differently. Spanish Tile is stored "nail hole up" the pieces are then stacked on the bottom edges.

Interlocking Tile is stored face-to-face ... reverse one ... then stacked on the side edges.

As far as the eye can see ... The average weight and number of pieces per square for tiles:
TYPE WEIGHT COUNT
Interlocking 1000 lbs 184 pieces
Closed Shingle 1000 lbs 225 pieces
French 1025 lbs. 133 pieces
Spanish 1050 lbs. 171 pieces
5/8" Slab Shingle 1225 lbs. 480 pieces
The weight of slate varies from 1,000 lbs. per square for 1/4" thick slate to 2,000 lbs. per square for 1/2" thick slate. This is the average and could change with the method of application.

The range of colors available in Vintage Clay Tile is immense. The only way to get an exact match is to request a sample of the tile to be matched from our clients.
The weight of slate falls mainly in the crate...

Mike Powell, Materials Supervisor, begins packing a 2H & 1R terminal for shipment - this piece is commonly called a "high bump". We store a lot of them up on the ledge by the old Railroad Tracks.
